Reviews for The Gingerbread House - Phra Nakhon
Review highlights
Based on 1,402 reviewsThe Gingerbread House is widely praised for its charming vintage ambiance, characterized by retro decor and classic wooden architecture that evokes a nostalgic Thai atmosphere. This dessert restaurant is recognized for serving authentic traditional Thai desserts that strike a balance by being flavorful without excessive sweetness, often recommended alongside their well-regarded coffee and tea offerings. Customers appreciate the refreshing beverage options, especially suitable for Bangkok’s hot climate. While the overall vibe is cozy and relaxing—making it an ideal spot for quiet moments or casual dates—there is occasional feedback about the pricing being somewhat high relative to expectations. Service experiences are generally positive, though a few guests have noted room for improvement in staff friendliness. Overall, The Gingerbread House stands out as a beautifully preserved, atmospheric venue that offers a unique and enjoyable traditional dessert experience in a distinctive setting.
Very nice place for photo taking. I was amazed with their mocha frappe is not sweet. It’s a super hot weather in Bangkok during these days and it’s really refreshing after taking it. Pricing here are quite reasonable and they serve traditional Thai desserts which I wasn’t fancy of before this. Those served here are not too sweet and it’s best to go with their coffee and tea. It’s a nice place for small group of people and this place is not difficult to find. Was quite disappointing as their cute bears and the other rice balls are not available the time we visit.
This Thai vintage café is adorable! Retro decor, cozy vibes, and that perfect iced Thai tea in classic glasses—pure nostalgia with a lovely Thai touch. A total delight!
This is one of a hidden gem in Thailand for me. It’s transports you to a bygone era with its stunning vintage charm. From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by beautifully preserved wooden architecture, antique furniture, and a cozy ambiance that feels like stepping into a fairytale. The highlight, of course, is their selection of traditional Thai desserts, which are not only authentic but also presented with great attention to detail. Each dish is a work of art, beautifully plated to enhance both the visual and tasting experience. The mango sticky rice is perfectly balanced, with sweet, fragrant mangoes and just the right amount of coconut cream. Their Thai tea-flavored desserts are also a must-try, offering a delightful mix of sweetness and richness. The service is warm and welcoming, adding to the overall charm of the place. Whether you’re a dessert lover or simply looking for a unique café experience, The Gingerbread House is a perfect spot to indulge in Thailand’s sweet traditions while soaking in a nostalgic atmosphere. It’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates good food, great presentation, and vintage aesthetics.
Located nearby one of the iconic of the area: sa choen sao A bit overprice Not really friendly staff but accommodating Unexpectedly tasty mango sticky rice Royal mixed ancient Thai vibe
Beautiful place. Great service. A bit over priced but definitely worth it. Relaxing vibe. A perfect spot for morning dates/quiet time.
One of the most iconic culinary space of Bangkok where the remnants of old Siam could be felt. A bygone era breathing fire with its Art deco construction & design along with delicious bakery and artisan coffee products. A must place to go if you’re in Bangkok! Food, Ambiance, design, narration are all perfect 10.
Absolutely lovely... no, not just "Café" or "Eatery" in traditional old Bangkokian style - a living old Bangkok lifestyle museum, with do many original vintage exhibits, so many historical photos and such a cute retro way of serving food and beverages! Well done owners and managers, keep it up, and long live The Gingerbread House!
